Angry Fraction Rewards for RP?

I'm just getting back into the game after a 5 month heitas, but Fraction rewards are very very cool for PvP players, but what about RP Players that PvP, shouldn't they be able to make use of these reward points too? I don't think I have any intension of rolling a pure PvP character, but I know I have every intension to PvP a lot with my RP characters.

It might work, but I can't think of a good way to do it. Imagine if you could get a Sup Absorbtion/Vigor just by spending 2000 Faction. Maybe there could be equipment guys in PvP areas that will give you free items that could only be used in PvP (this post discusses this idea: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s....php?t=109382).

Really, if you want to PvP, you should use PvP characters for that purpose. It's much easier than getting max weapons, buying several sets of armor, buying runes for each set of armor, etc. If you don't have those, then you'll be at a disadvantage.

I guess I have some idealism of using one character for both. I haven't experience post-20 PvP, so I don't have an idea of how much a disadvantage I would be at using an RP Character. But from your words, sounds like my thought that PvP Fraction should benefit RP Characters who PvP has even more foundation for the argument.

Faction was added for the diehard PvP players who don't want to have to RP in order to unlock skills for new builds.
RP characters have GOLD and can do QUESTS. Those things mean NOTHING to PvP characters.

/notsigned, you missed the point entirely by posting this thread in the first place

If you roll a PvP character, you are only allowed to PvP. Given that you can only spend your game time doing that, naturally you should be able to earn some reward to progress your PvP character.

If you roll a RP character, you can both PvP and PvE. At this point your progression in the game is rewarded for both, but the PvP reward is limited so that the faction points can only be used for any PvP characters you have or create in the future. However, that does nothing to reward the RP character you earned the reward with.

That's what I'd like to see, is the option to use those reward points for my RP character. Now, maybe it is unfair to have those points used to unlock skills and weapons that as a RP character I would have to work harder for, but I should be able to use that reward in some way towards my RP character... otherwise the faction points lose their meaning if I never roll a PvP character.

Also, it sounds like in GW:F faction rewards will have meaning to RP characters, but I wouldn't mind seeing it sooner.

the titled sequel/expansion "Factions" is not the same "Faction" that involves PvP. There are two "Factions" or "Teams", like the White Mantle and Shining Blade could be considered "Factions" in the first one, just warring sides in a conflict.

At any rate, you won't see PvE players being able to spend faction in the PvP area and unlock the skills for the PvE character. Nor will you see it update to that.

The way it is now, skills cost 1 plat and 1 skill point, and upgrades and runes cost quite a bit as well. Now, if they all of a sudden changed it so that PvE characters can unlock and use on their PvE char all the runes, skills, and mod items using faction, the economy as we know it will be shot. All that money that would be spent on skills, mods and runes that in a way act as a gold sink (mainly just the skills though) will now be floating around and people will have more money. And what happens when people have an excessive amount of money? Prices of items tend to go up, leaving all the poor people who are just starting out even worse off than they were before this "update".

Well, I don't know about the economy or how best to make it so Faction points matter to PvE characters without destroying any social balance. If PvE characters weren't meant to PvP, then you wouldn't be able to PvP with them. So, if you are going to allowing PvE characters to participate in PvP and give them rewards for doing so, doesn't it make sense that whatever PvE character you are using to earn the points get to use the points?

It sounds like having PvE characters get to spend Faction points the same way as a PvP character would be wrong and unbalanced. One thought is they could just trade in Faction points for gold. Another is perhaps they can spend X Faction points for 1 skill point.

The way the game stands now:
PvE Character + Playing PvE = PvE Rewards
PvP Chararcter + Playing PvP = PvP Rewards
PvE Character + Playing PvP = No Direct Rewards

I just disagree with this game design...

PvE Character + Playing PvP = Using PvE equipment in PvP against a ton of people who might just be using PvP weapons and mods. PvE players have access to a lot of different equipment, and they can cap elite skills and unlock them for PvP use quicker than someone can get 3,000 "Fraction" and unlock the same elite.

Anyways, PvE Characters cannot "spend" faction points on themselves just like how PvP-only Characters cannot "spend" gold and platinum on themselves.

Besides, in Chapter 2 there are going to be PvE missions that incorporate some PvP gameplay that are in the missions and they will get some sort of reward for winning. That sounds like a direct reward if I am not mistaken.
